Colophon
This site was constructed using RedHat's
RichFaces JSF
components. RichFaces components can be used to create menus, AJAX-style forms,
JavaScript effects, and other Web 2.0 type effects with little or no JavaScript
programming. The fixed-position
header was created using the CSS position: fixed;
attribute. Note that position: fixed;
is not supported in Internet Explorer 6 and earlier, so these pages
may not render properly in IE previous to version 7. We are in the process
of adding HTML5 features to these pages. We are also in the process of creating a mobile
version of these pages.
All the bitmap images on this site are JPEG or PNG format. PNG is the most modern and capable lossless image format. PNG is also mandated by Version 3.0 of the Department of Defense Joint Technical Architecture. We also use Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) images for many of our diagrams. SVG images look better because they use the native renderer of your browser.
This site runs in the
JBoss
Application Server. JBoss AS is an Enterprise Java 6.0
application server (released late December 2010),
providing security, EJB 3.0 persistence using
Hibernate,
web interface, and
web services. JBoss Application Server is part of RedHat's enterprise
middleware suite. This site uses JBoss Seam to manage components
and web services. We especially love the Drools-based security
configuration possible with Seam.
Some of our URLs end in .jsp. However, we're not using
any JSPs on this site. It's all Facelets. We had long-established
URLs in our "version 1" JSP site. We used the wonderful URLRewrite
Filter to preserve our URLs as we moved to a Facelets / JSF system.
For the operating environment, this site runs in Sun's Java 6 JRE,
on top of a current Linux distribution, on a dual Intel Xeon server.
We use NetBeans for most of our software development. NetBeans is a pure Java
integrated development environment (IDE). NetBeans is the best
IDE we have found for assisting the developer and releasing bug-free
code.
We are the experts in open source enterprise software because we use open source enterprise software on all our own systems, from desktops to servers, including IDEs and our other applications.
Current time on our server: Fri May 18 21:28:39 UTC 2012
